Introduction to the infertility unit of Amir Al-Momenin Hospital:

According to Dr. Yousefi there are three treatments for infertility in the laboratory called IUI, IVF, and ICSI:

IUI (Intra Uterin Insemination)

IVF(In Vitro Fertilization)

ICSI(Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

IUI or intrauterine injection of sperm:

He said In this method, after taking a sample from the man, the best sperms are collected and delivered to a gynecologist who injects them into the uterus through special catheters. Before the injection, the ovary is stimulated by certain drugs until a large number of ovarian eggs get matured. This method is mostly used for couples that the women have problems. IUI can be repeated up to three times. IUI has been performed in this center since 2000. The positive rate of this operation in the global standard is 12-8%, which in our center, with the positive changes made by the treatment team, the chance of fertility has reached 15% and even higher.

IVF or in vitro fertilization:

In this method, the sample is taken from a man, then best sperm is selected. Also, the female eggs who is in the cycle are stimulated by special drugs until many mature eggs are provided for fertilization and then these eggs are collected in the operating room. After preparation, they are placed in culture medium. In the culture medium, the washed sperms are placed next to the egg and after several hours, the egg is separated from the extra sperms. Then it is placed in the incubator. IVF has started working in this center since 2011.

ICSI or intracytoplasmic injection of sperm:

Eggs collected by a gynecologist are placed under a microscope with the best washed sperms, and the sperm is injected directly into the egg and placed in an incubator. This method is mostly used for couples that men have problems. The rate of positive action of this practice in the global standard is above 30%. The positive rate of this operation in the global standard is 30%, which it reaches up to 40-35% in the European countries.

The best methods are IUI and IVF and then ICSI, respectively, because the possibility of abnormality in IUI is less than other methods.

He also noted that various operations are performed in this center, including freezing eggs, embryos and sperm.
